Silt sediments have accumulated forming a sandbank on the left.

Sediment forms islands, vegetation takes root… and Darien’s open drainage returns to Nature!

another Tokeneke Road Bridge over the Goodwives River. Yellow arrow shows a sand bank that has formed and is now over grown with saplings and vegetation, blocking water that drains through the Goodwives.

  1. Curious in Connecticut Says:

Seems like a pretty simple reason with a very simple solution that contributes to the flooding problem. Darien and all the CT municipalities have made doing or working or fixing/changing anything around or near water into a federal crime.
“Tree/owl/tadpole/sea grass huggers” have elevated their agendas above HUMAN needs.
Just bring in some shovels and bulldozers, get rid of the buildup. Make it deeper while your at. I bet most of the silt/soil/sand build up is run off from the excessive amount of sand put on the roads in the winter.
Meanwhile we will have to live with the flooding and it’s damage while the town wastes money on studies and meetings….and talk, talk, talk.
Who cares whose fault it is. Just fix it.
